23-05-2018

Minister Elżbieta Rafalska and Undersecretary of State Elżbieta Bojanowska took part in a meeting with the charges of the Community Self-Help Home in Łomża in Podlaskie Voivodeship. They also visited the Day Care Center Senior+.

Whenever I am visitnig local governments, it is said that the number of people who want to attend the Day Care Centers is overwhelming to the number of places offered at these facilities something that until recently seemed inconceivable. As to us it seemed that seniors want to spend time at home. It turns out that various forms of activity proposed during classes are very much needed. These needs are also perceived by the local governments which offer various forms of support, for instance through a Senior Card, said Minister Rafalska.

The rebuilding and adaptation of school rooms for the needs of the Community Self-Help Home in Łomża, as well as the launch of the 12 new places and enhacement of support for all categories of people with mental disorders were allocated in the period of two years from the state budget PLN 1.2 million. Today, the facility has 43 places and after moving, provides participants with better staying conditions.

Minister Rafalska and Undersecretary of State Bojanowska visited the Day Care Center Senior+ in Łomża. Thanks to the programme Senior+ funds which amounted almost PLN 250 000 and the city's contribution (PLN 373 thousand), the facility was adapted to the needs of the elderly, thoroughly renovated and equipped. Day Care Center Senior + started its functioning on February 13th, 2017. The facility operates 8 hours a day for 5 days a week. And 60 people aged 60+ who are professionally inactive use the services of the Day Care Center Senior+.
